Darling er i løbetid, og skal parres med den berømte
engelske hanhund Ghostland Copper Charm. Copper kommer flyvende fra sit hjem
i England Torsdag d. 11 og bliver her i landet i en uge, indtil han skal
videre til en ny aftale i Holland. Darlings hvalpe forventes at blive født i
slutningen af januar 2005. |
The International Stud Dog Ghostland Copper Charm and
his groom Diane Whiting flies to Copenhagen on Thurday the
11th, so Copper can be mated with Darling. Copper stays here for a week,
until he has to go to Holland for a new appointment. The puppies from this
mating are expected end of january 2005. |

I samarbejde med de to dyrlæger Finn Boserup og Ulrik
Westrup, har Blue Border de seneste dage gennemført en undersøgelse for at
forbedre nøjagtigheden af de skedeskrabs undersøgelser, man kan benytte for
at fastlægge det optimale parringstidspunkt for tæver i løbetid. Der deltog
3 tæver i undersøgelsen, som gennem detaljerede scanninger fik fastlagt det
nøjagtige tidspunkt for ægløsningerne. Sammenlignet med det billede som
samtidige skedeskrabs undersøgelser viste, har det givet ny viden om det
præcise udseende af celleforandringerne på tidspunktet for ægløsningen, og
justeret på de normale tidsmæssige anbefalinger. Alle 3 tæver viste et meget
ens billede, og undersøgelsen fortsætter næste gang der er en flok tæver i
løbetid samtidigt. |
Together with the two vets, Finn Boserup and Ulrik Westrup,
Blue Border has begun a reseach project to improve the accuracy of the
vaginal smears used to establish the best time to mate a bitch. Three
bitches participated in the reseach and they had the exact time of ovulation
established through detailed scannings. These results were compared with the
results of vaginal smears taken at the same time. Through this we have
gained new insight in the exact quantities of cells and debris at the time
of ovulation and the recommandation for the right time to mate a bitch. The
three participating bitches gave very similar results, and the reseach
continues next time there are several bitches in heat at the same time. |

Collierne fik selv lov til at styre timingen for deres parringer, og selvom
de hyggede sig vældigt med de udvalgte hanhunde, så resulterede det altså
ikke i nogen hvalpe. |
The matings of the Rough Collie bitches did not result in
any puppies. I let the Rough Collie bitches decide the timing for the
matings, and even though the had a great time with the stud dogs, they did
not get any puppies. |

webcam. Da lille Innocence kravlede ud af hvalpekassen idag, så blev jeg
bestormet med opkald om straks at redde hende. Hun har dog ikke taget skade
af sin udflugt på et dejligt opvarmet gulv, men fremover bliver hvalpekassen
lukket når jeg er på arbejde. |
A surprisingly large number of people are watching how the
I-litter puppies are doing via the webcam. When one of the puppies,
Innocence, crawled out of the litter box today, my phone was swamped with
calls demanding her rescue. I can reassure every one that she is doing fine
and came to no harm from this experience. |

hvalpe denne gang. parringen bliver forsøgt igen om et ½ år, og så vil jeg

En lidt for hektisk dag. Udstilling af 2 Border Collier i
Helsingør - Fancy blev bedste hvalp og Adorable vandt åben klasse tæver.
Samtidig ankom Darling fra England med fly efter at være blevet parret med
Copper, så hun skulle hentes i lufthavnen. Oven i det hele viste Elvira alle
tegn på at skulle nedkomme, så jeg også skulle holde pote med hende. Tak til
alle som hjalp med at få det hele til at lykkes - Winnie som viste hunde
frem, Tine som hentede og bragte dem samt Diane som ledsagede Darling.

One of the really hectic days. Two of the Border Collies was
shown, Fancy winning "Best Puppy" and Adorable winning open class bitches.
Darling arrived from England by plane after being mated by Copper, and had
to be picked up at the airport. On top of that, Elvira showed clear sign of
her whelping beginning, so I had to keep close watch on her. Thanks to my
friends that helped to make everythink work - Winnie showing the dogs, Tine
who ferried them around and Diane for making the trip with Darling. |

et nyt års nyhedsside. Heldigvis er der fredeligt herude på landet, så her
var ingen hunde skræmt af det vildt overdrevene fyrværkeri, som gør
nytårsaften til et helvede for så mange hunde. Nytårsaften var her også en
flok på 7 collier, som havde søgt tilflugt her på kennelen, så vi var 21
hunde som fejrede en hyggelig aften sammen. Forhåbentlig vil der fremover
komme strengere regler og mere kontrol med det ulovlige fyrværkeri - det er
meningsløst, at et "festligt indslag" skal skræmme livet af hundene og slå
flere mennesker ihjel. |
My best wishes for a happy new year to everybody.
Fortunately I live in peaceful surroundings far out in the countryside, so
none of the dogs here was scared by all the fireworks. There were 7 more
rough Collies here for news years eve, so we were a total of 21 dogs
spending a nice evening together. I hope we will get a more strict
legislation about fireworks in the future and more control with the illigal
types of fireworks. Here in Denmark there were even 3 different people
killed by using firework, a completely crazy way of celebrating new year.
